After the Mardi Gras parade, all take to the streets one more time chanting “I can’t/don’t want to anymore” before going for an all-nighter. Bakeries open at 5 am on Wednesday so as to offer pastries on the way home.
Wednesday evening, at 8 pm, the burning of the Böög takes place (provided there are no violent winds, which could burn the whole town down). It went up in flames very quickly this year, putting an end to almost a week of festivities.
Carnaval – c’est fini
Après la parade du Mardi Gras, la foule défile en chantant “j’en peux plus” avant de passer une dernière nuit à boire, chanter et danser. Les boulangeries ouvrent à 5 heures le mercredi matin, permettant ainsi d’acheter des pâtisseries de Carnaval avant de rentrer à la maison.
Puis, à 20 heures, a lieu l’embrasement d’une figurine haute de plusieurs mètres, le Böög (annulé en cas de vents violents pour ne pas brûler la ville entière). Cette année, la figurine a flambé rapidement, mettant fin à près d’une semaine de festivités.
