Carnival started with wake up canon shots at 5 am on Thursday and the signal to the Chesslete parade through town (a Solothurn specialty). We posted about this in February last year.
This day is a public holiday and the town was filled with a number of bands in its little squares and along the river. Dirty old town by The Pogues is a firm favourite and several bands played it, some joining their efforts.
A day of music and the start to a week-long time of festivities.

Le Carnaval a débuté jeudi à 5h du matin par des coups de canon et le signal de départ du défilé du Chesslete, spécialité soleuroise. Nous avions posté à ce sujet en février 2022.
Ce premier jour est férié et les places de la ville et les bords de l’Aar voient de nombreuses fanfares. Dirty old town des Pogues est populaire mais on peut reconnaître d’autres chansons.
