Cáceres

Cáceres is another World Heritage city stage on the Vía de la plata and a gorgeous city it is.  The whole monumental part is listed and very well preserved.

We got there just as the “Bird festival” was starting.  This meant a free access to all monuments, an international competition of bird photography and many people walking around with binoculars and huge photo lens.

Adding to that another statue of a virgin (de la montaña) going back to its ermita on the hill after a 2-week long display in the cathedral, a Playmobil recreation of the Semana santa in a church where mangers from different countries were also on display and John’s post about spiral staircases.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful city.

Cáceres, également inscrite au patrimoine mondial, située sur la Vía de la plata, est une ville magnifique.  Toute la partie monumentale est classée et très bien conservée.

Nous sommes arrivés juste au moment où commençait le “Festival des oiseaux”.  Cela signifiait un accès gratuit à tous les monuments, un concours international de photographie d’oiseaux et de nombreuses personnes se promenant avec des jumelles et des téléobjectifs géants.

Ajoutons à cela une autre statue de vierge (de la montaña) retournant à son ermitage sur la colline après une exposition de deux semaines dans la cathédrale, une reconstitution Playmobil de la Semana santa dans une église où des crèches de différents pays étaient également exposées ainsi que le billet de John sur les escaliers en colimaçon.

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour dans cette belle ville.
