Murcía

Murcía is Spain’s 7th most populated city and one that gets some of the hottest temperatures, together with Sevilla.

We found it very pleasant, with lots of young people and enjoyed spending some  time there. Besides the cathedral and the episcopal palace, one of the attractions is the royal casino.  A private club, it also hosts a great variety of cultural activities, such as art exhibitions, talks, conferences and book clubs. The building is a mixture of different artistic styles from the second half of the 19th century and early 20th century. We particularly liked the ladies’ powder room.

The city has an ambitious programme of drastic traffic reduction and vegetalization. The old centre is, as is the norm in Spain, already pedestrian.

Murcie

Murcie est la septième ville d’Espagne en population et, avec Séville, celle ayant les températures les plus élevées.

Nous l’avons trouvée agréable, avec une population jeune (et moins) et y avons déambulé avec plaisir. A part la cathédrale et le palais épiscopal, l’une des attractions est le casino royal. Ce club privé offre de nombreuses activités culturelles ouvertes à tous : expositions, présentations, conférences et book clubs. Le bâtiment est un mélange de styles de la deuxième moitié du 19e et début du 20e siècles. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié le boudoir.

La ville a un ambitieux programme de réduction du trafic et végétalisation. Le centre, comme habituellement en Espagne, est déjà largement piétonnier.
